Jess & I went to Scotland. We looked at wedding stuff. We talked to wedding people. We went to the zoo. Here are some pictures that I liked, and some pictures that Jess wanted to show her Wedding Channel friends &c.

This is a “standard” room at Dalhousie Castle. |

This is the Mary Queen of Scots room at Dalhousie Castle. It's shockingly expensive. |
This is the Alexander Room at Dalhousie Castle. We’re having our reception here. |

This is the shadow of a window in the chapel at Dalhousie Castle. |

This is the outside of Dalhousie Castle, looking at the chapel on the left, and the Orangery restaurant on the right. |

These are some quite old trees at Dalhousie Castle. One traditionally has wedding photos taken under the larger of the two. (Examples: 1, 2, 3) |
Our first view of Dalhousie Castle, through a crack in the wall. We had walked a very long way, and were quite late, and the view was quite heartening. |
This is the table layout we'll probably end up using. Fascinating, non? |

A QTVR panorama of the library at Dalhousie Castle. |

This is a grey 21st Century Kilt. I'll probably make my boys wear something like this. |

These are sugar flowers. They are not real. We had to look twice to verify this. They actually do smell quite strongly of sugar. They were made by the amazing Rainbow Sugarcraft. They do some pretty cracked out stuff, check the fish. |

This is Jess. She's in a shop that sells nothing but Pooh. She nearly had an aneurysm due to the excitement. |
Jess wants here hair to be something like this (only darker and with fewer flowers (like none)). |

SMART! If you really must own a car, it should be one of these (or a Lotus Elise S2 – 0-60 in 5 seconds, 41 mpg ). Unfortunately, the Smart is not available in the US. |

Vines on the turret at Dalhousie Castle. Go-go gadget formalism! |
Jess. I don't know how I happened to take this picture, but it's pretty rockin’. |

Jess and I in front of Dalhousie Castle. Nestled camera in the gravel and used the self-timer. Like the perspective on the ground. |
Rosslyn castle. It's part ruined, and part restored. You can hire the place for self-catering. (Rent it without any service, for us yanks.) |
Jess & her Tiara in front of the Scotsman hotel, which is rather posh. (If you though Dalhousie was shockingly pricey, the rates at this place may give you an aneurysm.) |

A duck in the Edinburgh Zoo. I have a weakness for ducks. |
Another duck at the Edinburgh Zoo. I love having a digital camera, I think I took like 200 pictures at the zoo. |
Okay, this is my last duck picture, I promise. Well, for this trip, at least. |
A picture of my lovely fiancée, taken at the Edinburgh Zoo. We were watching the sea lion feeding. |

“Mr. Blatz, I'm ready for my close–up.” King penguin at the Edinburgh Zoo |
My favorite picture of the trip, macro shot of an emperor penguin nesting at the Edinburgh Zoo. |
Random cute kid, as seen in the Edinburgh Zoo. Or perhaps at the. Well, he wasn't in a cage, at least. |
A southern pudu at the Edinburgh Zoo. These adorable little deer-mouse-pig creatures are, unfortunately, endangered. |
For most of the year, the Edinburgh Zoo has a daily penguin parade. They had one when we were there, but it was rather warm, and anyway the penguins were busy molting or nesting, so only one came out to parade. Unfortunately, penguins are pack animals, and they’re not too bright. If just one penguin parades, s/he gets about halfway out, realizes that s/he’s all alone, and panics! So they had to shoo this penguin back into the penguin pen. This little one did not want to go. |

Jess & Nikki, the Tiara Girls! |

Jess & Nikki, the Tiara Girls, only even more adorable. How do they do it?
