Barcelona Travel Journal, Day 4, Martes, 9 Oct

We woke with the alarm and got up promptly, and Jer showered while Jess packed, then vice versa. We headed out to find some breakfast. After peering into the other two bars on our block, we ended up back at Bar Yague. We sat inside this time, as the outdoor tables weren't set up. It was a bit smoky, but the tortilla de patatas bocadillos (egg and potato omlette sandwiches on tomato-spread baguettes), fresh-squeezed OJ and cafe con leche were delicious, so it was worth it. Sated, we returned to Hostal Girona to collect our bags and check out. The hostal proprietress was still in her pajamas (even though it was almost 9 am on a Tuesday!), but she checked us out and returned Jess's passport.

We walked to the Arc de Triomf metro station, where we caught the subway to Placa Espanya. It took us a while to find the Aerobus stop, but eventually we triumphed and crammed ourselves into the packed bus for the ride to the airport. We arrived with plenty of time and Jer wandered around while Jess did a bit of work. Then we explored the duty free together and Jess bought some candy. Finally, we went through passport control and arrived at our gate just a bit before boarding.

The flight from Barcelona to Madrid was uneventful. We both slept a bit then had juice. Upon our arrival in Madrid, Jer bought some booze at the duty free and we stopped at the Vinea tapas bar for a pre-flight snack of tortilla, olives and cheese. We then boarded our flight back to JFK, which went much more smoothly than Jer's flight over.
